Dry Eye & TearCare

OptiPLUS Dry Eye Treatment

A gentle, effective solution for chronic dry eye

Dry, irritated, or burning eyes are often caused by meibomian gland dysfunction — when the tiny glands in your eyelids get clogged and stop producing the oils your tears need.

At Blythewood Eye Care, we now offer OptiPLUS by Lumenis, a comfortable and non-invasive treatment that warms and opens these glands to restore healthy tear film and improve long-term comfort.

How OptiPLUS Helps

OptiPLUS uses safe, controlled thermal energy to gently warm the eyelids, softening the oils inside the glands so they can flow properly again. Patients often notice:

• Less burning and irritation
• Fewer vision fluctuations
• Reduced redness and watering
• Better comfort on screens
• Improved contact lens tolerance

What to Expect

The treatment is quick and easy. You’ll sit comfortably while the OptiPLUS applicator warms the eyelids at a therapeutic temperature. Most appointments take only a few minutes, and there’s no downtime afterward.

Some patients may benefit from a series of treatments for the best long-term results. Dr. Beaver will customize a plan based on your symptoms and exam findings.

Optos Retinal Imaging

A clearer, wider view of your retinal health.

We now include Optos retinal imaging in every comprehensive eye exam. This advanced, ultra-widefield technology captures more than 80% of your retina in a single image — often without dilation.

This allows us to detect issues earlier and give you a more complete picture of your eye health.

Why We Use Optos

Optos imaging helps us identify early signs of:

• Retinal tears or weak areas
• Diabetic retinopathy
• Hypertension-related changes
• Macular degeneration
• Glaucoma risk indicators
• Lesions or abnormalities

The scan is fast, painless, and gives us detailed images we can compare year after year.

A Better Exam Experience

Optos is simple and comfortable, and most patients can avoid dilation drops when widefield imaging is appropriate. We’ll review the images with you during your exam so you can clearly understand the health of your eyes.
